Thierry made his studies at the University of Montpellier, there obtained a Bachelor of Arts followed by a Master, a PhD on Gustave Flaubert and a PhD in modern literature (specialty 19th century). He studied music theory and music conservatory, he learned the accordion and piano. He participated in the creation of plays, performances. During the early stages of their careers, the song is always present, he is working on songs with, among others, Jacques Loussier. - How began your career as a composer of music for relaxation?
- In 1980, I recorded a disc in Paris entitled “Sleeping Bird”. It was distributed in supermarkets and it turns out that quite a few people have contacted the publisher for the reference of the work. This disc, initially, was not intended for sale, it was designed to sound illustrations. Among the applicants, there were many psychotherapists and practitioners of the sophrologie.
It was the first record but I really never had the feeling of achieving something in a particular school of thought absolutely not in the new age. Moreover, this movement, in 1981, we did not talk much.
- What are the differences between music composers and artists relaxation sort?
- There is no difference. An artist varieties can be hang at different philosophies. A composer of music relaxation frequently clings to something philosophical. There is necessarily a different approach, but if I think back to when I was labeled new age musician was frankly restrictive, more pejorative!
At that time, there were so many people in this current s’engouffraient a little unclear, in this bazaar, being described in this way was a cause for concern.
When he composes music relaxation we should have thought a little different, more open, humanist. It is not part of a current of thought or a mode.
At the time there I was labelled new age musician but it really did not stop writing for people of the variety of composing for films or advertising.
Everyone lives his life and follows a path, an approach. Some may indeed not. Peu importe. No matter.
There is a musician who has in his mind a way of life, an approach, it does not appear as such. Thus Vangelis has been described as new age musician, but was never really aware of this claim.
This bothers me, too, is the commercial side, the mercenary approach.
- Do you feel a particular lifestyle to compose and find inspiration?
- Yes, I have made a choice, but the inspiration comes also everyday and it is not necessarily tied to a particular method, fortunately.
For lifestyle, at some point in my life I have also decided to set up a company to produce and distribute my CDs. I did not want to remain in a sort of ghetto fashion and a distributor. That disturbed me. It is true that a certain approach, and because it is part of this effort, it was necessary to avoid any concessions. It was an approach in his life, it is a construction, we want to build something to leave something good and to share what we are doing to a lot of people. I did not want to have more business than distributors producers who’s stand in the New Age by mood.
I made up because I am a musician and composer, I tried to mount a production house for distribution to the end, without false pretense. I do not like this kind of guilt in relation to the money when we badly need. Like having a venal research and excuse that by another type of spiritual approach.
The New Age is the “Strange big bazaar” that results from a kind of lack of benchmarks. It’s true we saw a end of century with a moral and spiritual crisis. People are free but without landmarks. They are ready to go anywhere any how to find a safe area.
Until recently we still had tags, as a religion, morality. The major phase of demystification of the late twentieth century led to more freedom, but also a lot of lost peoples. They will be gloomy pessimistic because things are going wrong, it’s useless to try something new, we feel demobilized … . I do not want to explain more because it would take too long. Remember that there is a lack of benchmarks and that the people are not ready for this autonomy. So they seek other guardians who can be anything. These gurus, these guides are going in the direction that are not very honest. So some spiritual journey in which music was relaxing are not always very honest. There are a lot of credulity around us. It’s easy to cause some people in management who do not go to autonomy, accountability. For me freedom through self-reliance and responsibility. I dislike this movement helps create idols even though I have participated to date that has contributed to the drop.
For this “mess” forgive me expression may not lead to something positive. However, there is a positive emphasis has been placed for a time on the notion of “being” whereas previously we had “to have” that prevail. The spirituality can find benchmarks yet that it puts responsibility autonomy is a free. A pseudo spirituality that go anywhere is unable to give something good.
- Where is your music it is best known?
- For any confess that I do not know and that is not what is important.
- Where your music is it mainly broadcasts?
- In the European Economic Community and in France, of course.
- Where do you want to publicize?
- Such a question is not part of my basic concerns.
The only important thing that I know that I continue doing.
- Therapists use your music?
- Yes, and it pleases me. I feel involved in this famous construction of the individual. To bring something to people who are sad. The music is no longer just something fun, it contributes to the well-being of humans. I have a lot of music that is in clinics hospitals and retirement homes beyond the media later than the feeling of being used to something positive.
- Among your albums which ones you believe the most successful?
- The latest. Because with the song have retreived my first love.
- Do you have any current projects?
- Yes an opera.

This disc of the group Monte-Cristo entitled “Voyage” has nothing to do with the music of relaxation we are rather in a music for effect extra hearing (except the hearing). A meeting with Logos.
Logos because of the equivalence with Greek concerning the Bible that means: “In the beginning was the Word”. It’s also a label of a record-production.
The sacred takes a great part in Stephen’s inspiration and work. His purpose is to use music that joins the human being with is divine essence.
His inpiration is combined with alchemy, Bouddhism and yoga. Basically these ways lead to his musical work.
To compose he uses the synthesizer, the sampler and the computer. Thanks to the technology, he plays his music with sound effects (water, birds, crickets, etc …).

- Why to have chosen the name of Logos?
- Symbolically it corresponds to the aspect of the Creator.

- With does such a signature spirituality have to play an important part in your work of creation?
- It occupies even a dominating place there: The goal of my work is to bring closer the man his interior divinity thanks to the mediation of the music. This language of the Heart makes it possible to create the magic moment where one feels transported in another dimension to be it, on a spiritual level where one tests a feeling of plenitude and serenity.
- With does the fact, when begin your career from musician?
- I am an autodidact. In 1986, whereas I am student in physics with the Faculty of Orsey, I feel taken by the desire for carrying out a cassette. Before any work of composition, I decide to prepare to me by making a spiritual stage in the Tibetan monastery of Kagyu-Ling. I carry out there “a training course of hell” with amongst other things 50 000 will mantras over the week! This crucible will emerge “the sound colors”, works which will gain a great success. By superstition, I never dared to modify the version on cassette although with the passing, I estimate that it comprises some mistakes of youth. After this phase, my production was packed: “La Lune des Sages”, “Quintessence – the Sounds of Colors” which is the remastered version for the compact disc of one of my first recording, Heliopolis and then “Eve”. One can wonder whether the public is well informed of my discography because I still often have booksellers who order me “X” exemplary of Logos!
- Which carries out the covers of your albums?
- This work is completed by various artists. For example, Johfra was occupied of “La Lune des Sages”. I find that it represented the concept of death well. The cover of Eve was carried out by Natacha Toutain. Originally it was to be a postcard representing Isis but its symbolism “hung me so much” that I wanted to use it for “Eve”.
- What represents for you the music and the act of composition?
- Above all, there are a life and a healthy thought. Then the music runs. Will mantras play a paramount part in my phase of purification. After that, there are a process of spontaneous creation and where I do not have any more but to play the part of channel.
- Ultimately, where will you draw your inspiration?
- My competences are esoteric, very impregnated of alchemy, Buddhism and Yoga. For example, “La Lune des Sages” was built on the topic of the philosopher stone. In “Eve”, certain titles make unambiguous allusion to alchemy. I am what one could call “a fan of the traditional esotericism”. Esotericism, Buddhism, Alchemy cannot be dissociated from my primarily esoteric advance i.e. hidden and educated by initiation. This unit is useful to me primarily of “food” for musical work. It is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Alchemy includes the esoteric totality of the knowledge (Yoga, Theurgy, Astrology, operativ Alchemy) since it teaches the physical manner to express the latent divinity of each one of us. Buddhism does not hold a particular role. I feel at ease in each religion (Christianity, Bouddhism, Soufism, etc…). The presence of Kagyu-Ling beside my old Burgundian residence makes me a little more often speak about Buddha. For me all these religions are only the expression in the various shapes of the same divinity. Like one says: “in the monastery, as many monks do as many visions different of God”.
- And which is the place of the technique in your work of composition?
- The synthetizer, the sampler and the computer enable me to carry out an enormous work. For example, in one of my works I use a “Om sampel” which was recorded thanks to the contest of a choral society of my friends. Thanks to the technology of the sampler, I was able to shift this sound sequence of an octave below. I could also have placed this sequence above an octave. It is a revolutionist but not original bus of the discs of quot;techno “were also produced starting from” samplés “recordings. Friday November 5, 1995, I had the occasion to meet with the ‘ Marjolaine meeting’ in Paris, Doctor Marchini and his wife Maev originators and producers of the energy musics. He has experience of homeopath and of expert. She is a Doctor in Human relations, Doctor in Industrial Analysis but also painter and musician. They both created a series of recordings of therapeutic use. Their application is addressed to the specialized therapeutists (doctor, kinesist, psychologist, relaxologist…) as to a larger audience. The purpose of these discs or cassettes is to care for diferent parts of the body, certain centers of energy or points of acupunctur.
Where the idea did come from?
Maev and her husband noticed that the negative emotions but also the toxic substances and a not adapted food create decelerations or blockings in the circulation of energy in our body, thanks to her knowledge in Bio-Energy, with her vision and her sensory extra touch. Maev noticed that the sounds could exert a fast and durable effect on the body and psychism of the individual. To raise these obstacles, it would be enough to listen suitably to adapted sounds. She could notice that the low sounds act on the bones and the bottom of the body, mediums on the muscles and the trunk and finally the acute ones on the nerves and the head. She initially tested musics of various authors but that never entirely satisfied hert. More serious, she even noticed that certain ‘ planing ‘ musics exerted a completely disastrous effect. She thus preferred to create her own music. She played already the piano, but she felt limited in particular for the level of the frequencies. What is energy music?

The official purpose is different : to make us travel in a quietening, exotic world as well as in natural surroundings (brooks, mountain springs, Tibetan bowls,…).
On a therapeutical level, this recording intends to disorientate and thus to help relaxation in an atmosphere far away from this stressed world.
The CD is composed of pieces for deep relaxation and some more dynamical ones following a progression (from first to fourth, and fifth to sixth).

The title of the recording indicates its purpose : to bring the audience to alpha level of consciousness, i.e on the verge of sleep but in a state of deep and conscious relaxation.
It is perfectly adapted for reducing stress and working on the subconsciousness as practised by psychotherapists.
The sound track contains pure tonalities of quartz bowls, ocean sounds, whales and dolphins voices. These components make me inform you of the regressive character (in the psychological sense) of the CD which might be unpleasant in a state of relaxation. In this particular case, after listening to this recording, it is advised to put one’s anxieties into words in the presence of a professional therapist.
If listened to for spiritual purposes, this CD is rather meant for experiencing inner silence and the Self.

This record by well-known Deuter is exclusively based on bells and Tibetan bowls. The author has collected all these instruments during trips in Nepal.
The purpose of this recording is physical and psychical healing. Sounds can be defined as soft but powerful as regards their vibratory qualities. They can help creating a serene and calm atmosphere (or sphere)..
I also suggest to use this recording for meditation that will thus enjoy a very special quality. It can also be used for relaxation after stress but only if you are receptive to this particular type of sounds.
